Cat in the Hat @ Books at a Steal, 106 S. Steele Street, Sanford NC
When: 9:30am – 11:00am
What: Bring the family for a special Dr. Seuss themed story time. Kids will hear Dr. Seuss stories and visit with The Cat in the Hat. Feel free to donate any children’s books (including Dr. Seuss) while you’re there.

Fun Gym at Sandhills Academy of Gymnastics, 220 Ampersand Road, Aberdeen NC
When: 12:30pm – 2:30pm, 6:30-9:30pm
What: Take children of all ages out to the gym for supervised open practice time that’s available to members and nonmembers. The cost is $6/hour per child.

Dandalia Bakery Cupcakes at Added Accents and Kathryn’s Hallmark, Sanford NC

What: This week’s feature is the “Snickers” cupcake -- a chocolate cupcake topped with the bakery’s signature frosting, drizzled in caramel, and finished off with a mini Snickers bar. Other flavors this week are Reese's, Kahlua & Kream, Banana Nut Maple, Mint Chocolate Chip and Vanilla w/ vanilla rimmed in mini chocolate chips!

Snack Wars at Lee County Boys & Girls Club, 1414 Bragg Street, Sanford NC
When: 3:30pm – 5:00pm
What: Watch children from the Boys & Girls Club compete to make the healthiest snack from items they find in a mystery basket. This is the first in a series of Snack Wars events!

Fish Fry at St Stephens Catholic Church, N. Franklin Drive, Sanford NC
When: 4pm – 8pm
What: Purchase fish plates every Friday during Lent. Plates come with cod (fried or baked), fries, cole slaw, hush puppies, and a beverage. The cost is $7.50/adult and $5/child.

Friday Night Tastings at Weaver Street Market in Carrboro, Southern Village, and Hillsborough
When: 4pm-7pm
What: The Hillborough store will sample Weaver Street Market bratwurst and Strangford Lough Legbiter Ale, the Carrboro store will sample Rawclates’ artisan chocolates, and the Southern Village store will sample Nello’s sauce.

Movie Night at Kidz Junction, 1031 Spring Lane, Sanford NC
When: 5pm–8:30pm
What: Kids can go to the brand new center to watch Smurfs, eat popcorn and play games. The movie will begin promptly at 7pm. The cost is $8/hour per child while package deals are available.

Candlelight Concert at First Presbyterian Church's Harper Center
When: 6:30pm – 8:30pm
What: Attend a Candlelight Concert that will feature a program called Rachmaninoff to Broadway. Singers will also perform songs by Whitney Houston, Patsy Cline, and Aretha Franklin and from West Side Story. Tickets are $15 and included dessert and coffee served to your table. Cornhole at the Broadway Optimists Ball Field, Broadway NC
When: 6pm–10pm
What: Play cornhole with the Broadway Optimists. Theme and rounds differ each night. Check in with the group for specifics. You can also sign up for spring baseball while you’re there!

Mini Spring Fling Tour at the Jaycee Hut, 809 Tryon Street, Sanford NC
When: 7pm – 11pm
What: Go support and enjoy several local bands, including xHONORx, Ever After, Upon Glory, and Dying As Goodmen. Admission is just $4.

Spoken Word at Cup Of Flow Coffee, 115 NE Broad Street, Southern Pines NC

What: If you love hip hop and spoken word, you won’t want to miss this new monthly event. Come to listen or get on stage and show what you’ve got!

What: Shop with Thirty One, Tastefully Simple, Dove Chocolate Discoveries, Brooke Wolfe Photography, and more! Each vendor is donating a portion of profits to the Burn Center. There will also be three special raffles full of items from these vendors. Don't miss it!

Second Saturday Cookout at Raleigh Executive Jetport, Sanford NC
When: 12pm–1pm
What: Meet club members, local pilots and others interested in aviation at the Wings of Carolina Flight Center. Lunch is available for $5.

Kidney Cutie Meet & Greet at La Dolce Vita, 143 Charlotte Avenue, Sanford NC
When: 3pm- 5pm
What: Meet the Ashley Quinones and Jeremy Morris -- the Kidney Cuties -- at a special meet and greet. There will be light appetizers; additional food and drink will be available for purchase. You can also donate cash for Larry Wilder, who received a kidney transplant the same day as Ashley, at the event.

BBQ Fundraiser for the Broadway Optimists, Lett Family Park, Broadway NC
When: 5pm–8pm
What: Buy a plate of BBQ to eat while you play cornhole with the Broadway Optimists. The plates will consist of BBQ, baked beans, slaw, and a roll. The cost is $7 and all proceeds will go to the baseball/softball program for the boys and girls in Broadway.

What: The Moore County Airport is hosting a jump for U.S. Veteran Colonel Hal Shook, who will jump with Mike Elliott, a tandem instructor who jumped President Bush on two occasions. The jump celebrates Col. Shook's career and 94th birthday. There will also be hot dogs, training, and a meet-and-greet.

Brewery Tour, Carolina Brewery, 120 Lowes Dr Pittsboro, NC
