    What: Safety technicials with the Sanford Fire Department will check car seats for proper installation and install new seats. Those who have their seats checked could win one of four $25 gas/gift cards.
  • Fit-A-Thon at Sanford Nautilus, 1907 KM Wicker Memorial Drive, Sanford NC
    When: 9am–1pm
    What: Participate in a day of step and dance to benefit the American Heart Association. Entry is a $10 donations. Children are welcome.

    What: Participate in a Samurai sword seminar. This an open event. You don’t have to be a student to participate. The beginner class runs 9:30-11am and the intermediate class runs 11:30am-1pm. Cost is $50.

    What: The class is just $8 for drop-ins, or you can purchase a pass.

  • Benefit Car Wash at Grace Chapel Church, 2605 Jefferson Davis Highway, Sanford NC
    When: 10am–2pm
    What: Grace Christian School senior class of 2013 will hold a car wash as a fundraiser for their missions trip. The car wash will be on the Chat Lee side. Donations will be accepted.
  • Touch a Truck at the Lions Club Fairgrounds, 507 N. Seventh Street, Sanford NC
    When: 10am–2pm
    What: This Boy Scouts event will feature vehicles from across the community -- including rescue and commercial vehicles. Kids can sit in the vehicles, etc. The cost is $3 per person for those ages 3+ with a $10 max per family. Food donations for local food pantries will also be accepted.
  • Free: Yard Sign Saturday at Lee County GOP Headquarters, 101 S. Steele Street, Sanford NC
    When: 10:30am–1pm
    What: The Republican Party of Lee County will have a “Yard Sign Saturday.” There will be free hot dogs and drinks for everyone. Meet the candidates and take home a yard sign.
  • Free: Dedication & Field Lighting Ceremony for Buchanan Park, 3100 Cameron Drive, Sanford NC
    When: 11am–12pm
    What: Hot dogs will be served immediately following ceremony.
  • Poker Run & Grill Off to Benefit Make-A-Wish at O.T. Sloan Park, 1420 Bragg Street, Sanford NC
    When: 12–6pm
    What: This family-friendly event will have face painting, games, Sanford Mobile DJs, and more. The poker run starts at 8:30am and costs $25/bike. There will be a grilling competition beginning at 2pm.
  • Free: Praisefest in the Park at Depot Park, 226 Moore Street, Sanford NC
    When: 12–7pm
    What: There will be food, live music, comedy, and Illusionists Greg and Sandi King. Evangelist Bruce Parsons and Pastor James Clark will speak. People should bring their own lawn chairs or blanket.

  • PiYo Beginnings at Tree of Life, 107 Charlotte Ave, Sanford NC
    When: 7–8pm
    What: Learn basic PiYo sequences to build strength and endurance, and perform mild cardio for weight loss. This class is perfect for those who want to learn what PiYo is all about or to add another class to your workout routine. Drop in fee $8. Class begins at 7:15.
