    What: Children will learn about trees and the benefits they provide. After, attendees will help rangers plant two Longleaf Pine trees behind the Visitor Center.
  • Quilt Show at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center, 1801 Nash St, Sanford NC

    What: Presented by the Hearts and Hands ECA Quilters’ Guild, the quilt show will feature more than 100 quilts, as well as vendors, raffles, door prizes, handmade items, and more. Admission is $6. Children under age 12 are admitted free.
  • ‘Clue’ at the Temple Theater, 120 Carthage St, Sanford NC

    What: See the iconic whodunnit musical for $27/adult or $15/student/senior citizen. The audience will get involved in solving the crime!

    What: The farm will offer a 30-minute hay ride with lighted displayed and a special light show at the end. Tickets are $9 for ages 2+. Cash only.

    What: The Sanford Area Society of Shaggers (SASS) will hold their monthly social. The event will feature DJ Kitty Earles.
  • Family Movie at Aberdeen Town Lake, 301 Lake Park Crossing, Aberdeen NC

    What: Aberdeen Parks & Rec will show Lego Batman. There is no cost to attend. Concessions will be available for purchase.

    What: Wear glow gear or Halloween costumes for a special Friday night dance party complete with black lights.

Saturday

  • Nature Center Open at San Lee Park, 572 Pumping Station Rd, Sanford NC

    What: The newly built Nature Center will be open to the public every day in October from 8a to 5p. The building is now located up the hill from the old center.
  • Family Fun Day at Spring Lane Assembly of God, 1715 Spring Lane, Sanford NC
    When: 9a-1p
    What: The church will have bouncy houses and a slide, a petting zoo, face painting, games, hot dogs, cotton candy, and snow cones. The event is free.
  • Miltia Muster at The House in the Horseshoe, 288 Alston House Rd, Sanford NC
    When:

    What: Learn about backcountry militias and their roles during the American Revolution. You can watch units practice their drills and visit the encampments. Activities will include musket firings/drills, house tours, demonstrations, and games. Curbside Cravin’s Food Truck will be on site all day.
  • Pumpkin Painting at The Painted Petal, 1112 Hawkins Ave, Sanford NC

    What: Stop by the studio to paint pumpkins. There’s no charge if you bring your own pumpkin to paint. All ages are welcome.

  • Oktoberfest Benefit at Trinity Lutheran Church, 525 Carthage St, Sanford NC

    What: Get a plate with a brat, sauerkraut, potatoes, a roll, a drink, and a homemade dessert for $8. You can choose a hot dog, chips, and a drink for $5. The Hill Family Band will entertain with bluegrass and Gospel music during the noon hour. The event will benefit the CUOC, Family Promise, and the Helping Hands Clinic.

    What: Aberdeen Parks & Rec will offer carnival games, inflatables, face painting, a climbing wall, and more. The event is for children ages 15 and under. Admission is $5 per child. Children under age 2 are admitted free.
  • Hayride & Movie Night at Millstone Creek Orchards, 506 Parks Crossroads Church Rd, Ramseur NC

    What: Ride the “happy” hayride trail decorated with animated scenes and thousands of lights. They’ll also play a halloween movie. Every child dressed in costume will receive a treat bag and there will be a costume contest at 6:30p. Admission is $7 for ages 3+.
