July 4th Celebrations in Sanford/Lee County

  • Ammons Farm’s Annual 4th of July Celebration
    Where: Field beside Sanford Health and Rehab, 2702 Farrell Road, Sanford NC
    When: July 4, 5p until 9p
    What: Concessions will be available for purchase. They’ll also have a live DJ and face painting for the kids.
    Price: Free, but donations at the gate are encouraged.

July 1:

  • Free Symphony Concert at Festival Park
    Where: Corner of Ray Avenue and Rowan Street, Fayetteville NC
    When: 8p
    What: The NC Symphony will present an old-fashioned salute to the red, white and blue with patriotic favorites and high-spirited classics honoring the USA on its birthday.
    Price: Free

July 3:

  • Summer Fest in downtown Pittsboro
    Where: downtown Pittsboro
    What: The event will feature activities for kids and adults, plus a cornhole tournament, a bike parade, and an evening of live music. There will be a free shuttle service from various locations.
  • Town of Fuquay-Varina’s July 3rd Celebration
    Where: South Park (820 S. Main Street, Fuquay-Varina NC)
    When: 6p
    What: Enjoy live music, inflatables, rides, and activities for children; and a fireworks show will begin at sundown.
    Price: This is a free event.

July 4:

  • Independence Day Olde Time Celebration
    Where: Bond Park, 801 High House Rd, Cary NC
    When: 7:30a-3p
    What: The day starts with a fishing tournament, parade, and family-friendly competitions for all ages.
    Price: Free.
  • Village of Pinehurst’s Fourth Fest ParadeWhere: Tufts Park, 110 Cherokee Rd, Pinehurst NC
    When: 9a-12p
    What: Festivities will kick off with a cutest pet contest (registration at 8:30a,awards at 9:15a). The parade will begin at 10a. After, there will be antique cars, a farmers’ market, and more.
    Price: There is no admission fee.
  • Apex’s Olde Fashioned 4th of July
    Where: downtown Apex NC
    When: 9a-1p
    What: There will be inflatables, games, activities and more followed by a themed bike parade. The event ends with the fire department’s Splash Down.
    Price: Free
  • Siler City Hometown 4th
    Where: downtown Siler City
    When: 9a-3p
    What: Music, inflatables, vendors, and more.
    Price: Free
  • Town of Carthage’s Annual July 4th Parade
    Where: Will start at Monroe Street and end at the county courthouse in Downtown Carthage
    When: 11a
    What: Patriotic parade complete with themed floats, cars, bands, youth groups, and more.
    Price: The event is free.
  • July 4th Celebration in Lillington NC
    Where: Cape Fear River access next to Howard’s BBQ
    When: 2-6p
    What: The town will hold a day of events, starting with food, drinks, a dj, and games. They’ll also have a Duck Derby and Duck Rodeo.
    Price: Free
  • Town Of Cary’s Independence Day Celebration
    Where: Koka Booth Ampitheatre
    When: 3-10p
    What: Family Fun Zone featuring food along with children’s activities from 3-7pm. Performances by the Cary Town Band and NC Symphony starting at 5:45pm. Fireworks begin after the concert.
    Price: Concerts and display are free and open to the public.
  • 4th of July Celebration at Fort Bragg
    Main Post Parade Field, Bragg Blvd, Fort Bragg NC
    When: 3-10p
    What: There will be a day of musical acts, parachute free-fall demos, a flag ceremony, and more. Fireworks will begin after dark.
    Price: Free and open to the public.
  • Town of Aberdeen’s Fun Family Fourth of July
    Where: Aberdeen Lake Park, 301 Lake Park Crossing, Aberdeen NC
    When: 5-10p
    What: The event will start with activities and games — including a rock climbing wall, inflatable slide, bounce house, and obstacle course — for all age groups. Live music will begin at 6 pm. Fireworks will begin at nightfall.
    Price: Admission to the park is free. A wristband for games, activities, and face painting is $5 per person.
  • Town of Lillington July 4th Celebration
    Where: Lillington Ball Park, 307 S. 1st St, Lillington
    When: 5-10p
    What: The town will offer a DJ, a classic car show, food and drink to purchase, and fireworks at 9:15p.
    Price: Free
  • Village of Pinehurst’s Fourth Fest: Concert & Fireworks
    Where: Pinehurst Harness Track, 200 Beulah Hill Road S, Pinehurst NC
    When: 6-10p
    What: They’ll have children’s activities and the “Carolina Breakers” will perform throughout the evening. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, and picnic baskets are also allowed. The fireworks show will begin around 9:15 PM.
    Price: There is no admission fee.

Trails & Tracks in Sanford/Lee County

When folks move to Sanford/Lee County NC from more health-focused communities, they usually comment on one thing first: There are no sidewalks.

Sure, historic downtown and City Hall offer them, but the rest of the city and county are strictly road-meets-grass. Unfortunately, that means if you want to take a walk or go for a run, you’re putting yourself in danger of oncoming vehicles.
