  • Margarash Reading at the Lee County Library, 107 Hawkins Ave, Sanford NC
    When:

    What: Author Mark Riddle will read from his book Margarash, a children’s book about a young boy and a seemingly-nasty monster who realize they need each other. The event will be held in the library auditorium.
  • 8-Week Parenting Class at Compass House Counseling Center, 311 W. Rose St, Sanford NC
    When: 6-7:30p
    What: Instructor Pamela Parker, PhD, MS, LMFT will lead the class, which will be held every Monday for 8 weeks. The cost is $10 per session. You must register at 919-774-8790.

  • Lee County Genealogical & Historical Society Meeting at the Lee County Library, 107 Hawkins Ave, Sanford NC
    When:

    What: This month’s topic is “Family Owned Businesses – The Backbone of America” with representatives from Thomas & Sons Butcher Shop, Key’s Upholstery, Perry Brothers Tire Service, Sloan’s Garage, Budd-Mann Company, and Ukie Hallman’s Pig Farm. The meeting is open to the public and guests are welcome.

  • Sanford Jobseekers at First Baptist Church, 202 Summit Dr, Sanford NC

    What: Join a group of like-minded job seekers who want to support one another during transition. Everyone is welcome. Call 919-776-6137 for more information.
  • Safety Lunch for Seniors at the Enrichment Center, 1615 S 3rd St, Sanford NC
    When:

    What: The Sanford Police Department’s Community Police Unit will provide safety tips and strategies for staying safe. Ashley Graham with Lee County’s Project Lazarus will present information about prescription medication safety. The event is free to attend. Attendees are encouraged to bring an item to donate to BackPack Pals.

Thursday

  • Thursday Hike at Raven Rock State Park, 3009 Raven Rock Rd, Lillington NC
    When:

    What: Join park staff every week to hike 3-6 miles on trails that can be flat, hilly and include steps. Plan to stop during the hike to observe wildlife, enjoy environmental educational moments, and listen to the natural world. For ages 12 and up. Call the visitor center at 910-893-4888 x0 for additional information and meeting location.
  • Preschool Reading Program at Kiwanis Park, 1800 Wicker St, Sanford NC
    When:

    What: The Lee County Coalition for Families will host a story time for preschoolers and their siblings. For the last week of the program, kids are encouraged to bring a bike. Other games will be provided.
  • Art Camp at ArtStudio, 102 S. Steele St, Sanford NC
    When: 2-5p
    What: Youth ages 5-9 will create art from 2-3:30p. Youth ages 10-18 will create art from 3:30-5p. The cost is $25 and the weeks’ theme is watercolors.
  • The Science of Eclipses at the Lee County Library, 107 Hawkins Ave, Sanford NC
    When:
    3:30-4:30p
    What: Librarian Allison Sills will present information about the recorded history of eclipses. Professor Jason Ezell will provide a telescope with some filters and a presentation. The library will give safety solar viewing glasses to everyone who attends. The event will take place in the library auditorium.

Friday

  • Kids’ Afternoon at the Coffee Bar, 703D S. Horner Blvd, Sanford NC
    When:
    1-3p
    What: Kids can make a campfire handprint with a s’mores snack.
