Tuesday

  • Head of Class Award Ceremony at the Dennis Wicker Civic Center, 1801 Nash St, Sanford NC
    When: 10a
    What: The Lee County Education Foundation will present the 2017 Head of Class Project Award to Greenwood Elementary School. The public is encouraged to attend.
  • Fundraiser at Zaxby’s, 3220 Hwy 87S, Sanford NC
    When: 5-8p
    What: The restaurant will donate 10% of the night’s sales to Barbecue Presbyterian Church’s youth. There will also be donation jars. All donations and proceeds will benefit the Harnett County Buddy Backpack program.
  • Spirit Night at Chick-Fil-A, 3224 NC Hwy 87S, Sanford NC

    What: A portion of dine-in and drive-thru sales will be donated to San Lee Middle School. You must tell your cashier that you are there to support the school.
  • Pumpkin Painting for 2 at Chick-Fil-A, 3224 Hwy 87S, Sanford NC

    What: Team up with a friend, coworker, or family member to paint two pumpkin canvases with The Painted Petal. The cost is $25, which includes both canvases and guided instruction.
  • Lee County Genealogical & Historical Society Meeting at Jonesboro UMC, 407 W. Main St, Sanford NC

    What: This is the Society’s monthly meeting. The topic will be “The History of Olde Jonesboro as told by Jimmy Haire.” The meeting is open to the public and guests are welcome.

    What: Librarians Delisa and Sheneeta will offer stories, crafts, and games for toddlers. This week’s theme is “Autumn.”
  • Job Fair at First Baptist Church, 202 Summitt Dr, Sanford NC
    When: 10a-1p
    What: This free event will bring together local employers, training providers, service providers, and resource agencies. It is sponsored by NCWorks Career Center, First Baptist Church, and the Salvation Army.
  • Trivia Night at Libations, 139 Chatham St, Sanford NC
    When: 6-7:30p
    What: Libations hosts a trivia night every other Wednesday. The winning team will get $50 towards their bar tab.

Thursday

  • Thursday Hike at Raven Rock State Park, 3009 Raven Rock Rd, Lillington NC

    What: Join park staff every week to hike 3-6 miles on trails that can be flat, hilly and include steps. Plan to stop during the hike to observe wildlife, enjoy environmental educational moments, and listen to the natural world. For ages 12 and up.     What: El Refugio is offering a free renewal clinic to help people who are eligible to renew their DACA status. People whose DACA status expires between September 5, 2017 and March 5, 2018 must file a renewal application by October 5, 2017, to be considered.

    What: The fountain will run at specific times each day. The hours are 10-11a, 12-1p, 2-3p, and 4-5p.
  • J. Fletcher Rosser Day at St Luke UMC, 2916 Wicker St, Sanford NC

    What: Buy a barbecue plate that includes slaw, potatoes, and hushpuppies for $8 to benefit the Bread Basket. You must preorder by noon on September 26 to qualify for delivery.
  • Free ACES Program at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center, 1801 Nash St, Sanford NC

    What: CCCC will host poet and Mount Olive University Assistant Professor of English, Lenard Moore, for a presentation, poetry reading, and Q&A entitled “B.A.M.: Black Arts Movement.” Book signing available as well.
  • Footloose at the Temple Theatre, 120 Carthage St, Sanford NC

    What: Youth and adult actors will stage the 80s hit. Tickets are $27/adult and $15/child or senior.
  • Latin Night at Aye Toro, 3064 S. Horner Blvd, Sanford NC

    What: DJ Kriz will play salsa, merengue, bachata, house, and more. Ladies get in free. All others pay $5. You must be 21 to enter, and there is a dress code.
