Rain may be staying with us this weekend, but that doesn’t mean you have to sit at home. There’s plenty to do each day no matter the weather. If an event is not marked ‘rain or shine,’ make sure you check with the organizers to ensure it has not been canceled.

Friday

  • Basketball Camp at Southern Lee High School, 2301 Tramway Rd, Sanford NC
    When: 8a-12p
    What: SLHS will host this camp that’s open to both boys and girls (rising 1st grade and up). The cost is $50 for all three days or $20 for the individual days.
  • Sip and Shop Happy Hour at Hair Design, 1235 N. Horner Blvd, Sanford NC
    When: 5-7p
    What: Shop for Essential Bodywear including new items and clearance items. There will be bra fittings, drawings for free items, and refreshments.
  • Open Studio at the ArtStudio, 102 S. Steele St, Sanford NC
    When:
    5:30-7:30p
    What: Bring your project or start a new one during Open Studio hours. You provide the materials and they provide the space. You can also meet exhibiting artist Karen Rushatz.
  • VBS at Christian Faith Ministries, 3110 Cameron Dr, Sanford NC
    When: 5:30-8:15p
    What: The theme will be ‘God’s love is deeper than the ocean.” Dinner will be served each night.

Saturday

  • Pollinator Party at Raven Rock State Park, 3009 Raven Rock Rd, Lillington NC
    When: 10a-2p
    What: Learn about bees, butterflies and hummingbirds and their importance to the world’s food supply. Susan Campbell will tag and release the park’s humingbirds. This is a rain or shine event.
  • Dog Show at Carolina Town & Country, 710 E. Main St, Sanford NC
    When: 11a-1p
    What: Enter your dog to win a prize. There will also be a protection dog demonstration. This is a rain or shine event.
  • Vendor Showcase at Jo-Ann’s Fashions, 2306 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Sanford NC
    When: 11-3p
    What: Get a free bra fitting and shop with Premier Jewelry. Everyone who stops by will be entered to win a door prize.
  • Very Berry Celebration at Millstone Creek Orchards, 506 Parks Crossroads Church Rd, Ramseur NC
    When: 11a-4p
    What: Celebrate the berry season with berry picking, hayrides, an airsoft challenge, a pie eating contest, and storytime. Admission is $3 for everyone over age 2.
  • Boat Rentals at San Lee Park, 572 Pumping Station Rd, Sanford NC
    When:
    1-6p
    What: You can rent canoes and paddle boats for $3/paddle boat and $5/canoe for each half hour. Rentals are only open on weekends.
  • Open Studio at the ArtStudio, 102 S. Steele St, Sanford NC
    When: 2-4p
    What: Bring your project or start a new one during Open Studio hours. You provide the materials and they provide the space. You can also meet exhibiting artist Karen Rushatz.
  • Brew ‘n’ Choo Luau at New Hope Valley Railway, 3900 Bonsal Rd, New Hill NC

    What: Ride a train in a Hawaiian setting complete with craft beer, wine, pulled pork barbecue and music. The first 500 train passengers will receive a free floral lei.
  • Gather & Flourish: The Market, 346 HM Cagle Dr, Cameron NC

    What: The market features local produce, photography, jewelry, clothing, food and more.

Sunday

  • Very Berry Celebration at Millstone Creek Orchards, 506 Parks Crossroads Church Rd, Ramseur NC
    When: 1-5p

    What: Dinner will be served each night. Some transportation is provided. The theme is Maker Fun Factory.
  • VBS at New Life Praise Church, 2398 Wicker St, Sanford NC
    When:
    6-8:30p
    What: A week of VBS will start at 4p with a hot dog kickoff. The theme is Maker Factory.
  • VBS at Ephesus Baptist Church, 2724 White Hill Rd, Sanford NC
    When:
    6-9p
    What: The first night starts at 5:30p with dinner. The program will run through June 30 with a Family Night Celebration at the end. The theme is Galactic Starveyors.
