Events in the Sanford/Lee County Area this Weekend

Friday

  • Fountain at Depot Park, 106 Charlotte Ave, Sanford NC
    When:
    10a, 12p, 2p, and 4p
    What: The fountain runs from May 11 to October 31. During that period, it will operate for an hour at a time at 10a, 12p, 2p, and 4p each day.
  • Auction at S & L Bargain Depot, 1000 N. Horner Blvd, Sanford NC
    When:

    What: Overstock and mis-shipped items will be auctioned to the highest bidder. There will be free popcorn until the auction starts at 6:30p.

Saturday

  • Produce Stand at Gary Thomas Farm, 443 Thomas Rd, Sanford NC
    When:
    8a-1p
    What: The stand will have bicolor corn for $4/dozen or $3 for 6 ears already shucked. They’ll also have tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, and cabbage.
  • Job Fair at Kelly Services, 2821 S. Horner Blvd, Sanford NC
    When: 8a-1p
    What: The company has immediate openings for production workers, material handlers, forklift drivers, QA inspectors, electronic assemblers, mechanics, and professional positions. The pay is $7.50/hr for 1st shift, $8/hr for 2nd shift, and $8.50/hr for 3rd shift.
  • Benefit Car Wash at Tractor Supply, 3004 S. Horner Blvd, Sanford NC
    When:

    What: The Lee County High School FFA will was cars for a donation.
  • BOGO Painting Class at The Painted Petal, 1112 Hawkins Ave, Sanford NC
    When:

    What: Paint a July 4th canvas. Bring a friend and they’ll get their painting free. You must use the contact tab at www.thepaintedpetal.com to RSVP. Make sure to include your phone number.

  • Annual Pollinator Party at Raven Rock State Park, 3009 Raven Rock Rd, Lillington NC
    When:
    10a-2p
    What: Celebrate pollinator week by learning about bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. There will be live demos, a honey tasting, a hummingbird release, and more. Come dressed up as your favorite pollinator, or dress up your pet, with special prizes for those that come in costume.
  • Zumba at Sanford Latin Dance, 109 S Steele St, Sanford NC
    When:
    11a-12p
    What: All are welcome. The cost is $5 per person.
  • Multi-Shop Sidewalk Sale along Wicker Street, Sanford NC
    When:
    11a-3p
    What: 2nd Glances, Rayney Ray’s Boutique, and Gown & Tux will hold a sidewalk sale.
  • Boat Rentals at San Lee Park, Pumping Station Rd, Sanford NC
    When:
    1-6p
    What: You can rent canoes and paddle boats for $3/paddle boat and $5/canoe for each half hour. Rentals are only open on weekends.
  • Brew n Choo at New Hope Valley Railway, 3900 Bonsal Rd, Sanford NC
    When:

    What: Enjoy a train ride, food truck fare, ice cream, craft beer, local wine and live music. Trains depart hourly from 4-7p.
  • ‘Crimes & Murders’ at Railroad Museum, 110 Charlotte Ave, Sanford NC

    What: Take a narrated walk through historic downtown Sanford with historian Jimmy Haire, sponsored by the Spirits o’ Sanford. Admission is $20.

  • ‘A Walk Through Time’ at Railroad Museum, 110 Charlotte Ave, Sanford NC
    When:
    2p and 4P
    What: Take a walk with historian Jimmy Haire at 2p or 4p to learn about Sanford’s architecture and history. The cost is $10 and proceeds will be donated to local nonprofits.
