There’s rain in the forecast, but hopefully that doesn’t put too much of a damper on the weekend’s many activities — which include lots of Halloween- and fall-themed things to do. It’s full on pumpkin season!

    What: The farm will offer a 30-minute hay ride with lighted displayed and a special light show at the end. Tickets are $9 for ages 2+. Cash only.

  • Kids Kloset Consignment Sale at the Lions Club Fairgrounds, 505 N 7th St, Sanford NC

    What: Shop for gently used children’s clothes, toys, gear, and more. See the full schedule here.
  • Annual Clearance Sale at JR Moore & Son, 865 Thrift Rd, Gulf NC

    What: The store will hold a sale in its warehouse. Shoes will be 50% off and clothing will be 30% off. No returns or refunds.
  • Customer Appreciation Day at Travelers Auto, 816 E. Main St, Sanford NC

    What: The dealership will offer deals on cars, scooter parts, and accessories. They’ll serve a free hot dog lunch starting at 11:30a.
  • NASA Ambassador Visit at the Lee County Library, 107 Hawkins Ave, Sanford NC

  • Oktoberfest at Millstone Creek Orchards, 506 Parks Crossroads Church Rd, Ramseur NC

    What: Admission is $8 for ages 3+ and includes hayrides, cider demos, pumpkin chunkin’, story time with the Great Pumpkin, pumpkin pie eating contests, S’mores, pumpkin piñatas, samples, and more. You must pay for your pumpkin separately.
  • Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze at Gross Farms, 1606 Pickett Rd, Sanford NC

    What: Enjoy picking pumpkins, exploring a corn maze, playing games, taking a hay ride, and more. Admission is $3. Attractions are priced separately. The B-Sides will provide live music starting at 2p.
  • Festival Latino at Jonesboro UMC, 407 W. Main St, Sanford NC
    When: 11a-3p
    What: Learn about different Latin cultures while sampling foods from various vendors, listening to music, and playing games. Apex Immigration Services and the Consulates from Mexico and Guatemala will be there.
  • Rib Fest at Kiwanis Park, 1800 Wicker St, Sanford NC
    When: 11a
    What: Keepers of the Faith invite the public to participate in a contest for the best ribs. A trophy will be awarded to the winner. No entry fee. For information, contact Casey Potter at 919-410-2188 or Jeff Pierce at 919-721-2033. The festival will feature food and games all day. Food will be served starting at 11a. Open to the public. No alcoholic beverages please.
  • Hayride & Movie Night at Millstone Creek Orchards, 506 Parks Crossroads Church Rd, Ramseur NC

    What: Ride the “happy” hayride trail decorated with animated scenes and thousands of lights. They’ll also play a halloween movie. Every child dressed in costume will receive a treat bag and there will be a costume contest at 6:30p. Admission is $7 for ages 3+.

  • Blessing of the Animals at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 312 N. Steele St, Sanford NC
    When:

    What: The public is invited to bring their pets to celebrate the tradition of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all animals. Gifts will be given to each pet. Animals must be leashed or caged. The event will benefit CARA. Make a donation to receive a custom-made dog bandanna.
